๐Getting to the Stadium: Arrowhead Stadium
Arrowhead Stadium is about 15 minutes east of downtown Kansas City, in a suburban complex with no direct rail. From Kansas City International Airport (MCI), it's a 30-minute drive. You'll need a car or rideshare โ KC public transit is limited. Match-day shuttle buses will likely run from downtown. Parking at the stadium is $35-60 but the lots are enormous and well-organized. Tailgating culture here is unmatched.
๐ Where to Stay
Downtown Kansas City / Power & Light District is the entertainment hub โ restaurants, bars, live music. The Country Club Plaza is an upscale outdoor shopping district with Spanish-inspired architecture and good hotels. Westport is the young, bar-heavy neighborhood. Crossroads Arts District has galleries and craft breweries. Kansas City, Kansas (the other side of the state line) has cheaper hotels but you'll need a car from everywhere.
๐ดFood & Drink
Kansas City BBQ is arguably the best in America. Joe's Kansas City (inside a gas station, don't let that stop you) โ get the Z-Man sandwich. Q39 for a sit-down experience. Gates BBQ for the classic 'Hi, may I help you?' greeting. Beyond BBQ, KC has a surprising food scene โ Westport Cafe for French, Town Topic for classic burgers, and don't skip the burnt ends at any BBQ joint. They're a KC invention.
โWeather
Kansas City summers are hot and humid. June-July averages 30-35ยฐC (86-95ยฐF) with severe thunderstorms possible. Arrowhead Stadium is open-air with no roof โ bring sunscreen for day matches and watch weather forecasts for storms. The heat can be intense with no shade in the upper decks.
